ESC [ N C

CUF moves the cursor forward (right) by N columns. The sequence is ESC [ N C (default N=1). The cursor stops at the right edge of the screen and does not wrap to the next line.

Send \x1b[5C (CUF 5), verify cursor column is 5 (0-based).

The same probe runs against headless backends (via Termless) and real terminal apps (via a daemon launched in each terminal). This lets us distinguish parser correctness from rendering correctness.
